I bought a used HP EliteDesk 705 G5 that supposedly has a Windows 10 Pro license embedded in the motherboard, but no OS is currently installed. How do I install Windows 10 Pro using the embedded license? Just go through the standard Windows 10 install process and somewhere along the way it'll automatically detect the license? Or do I need to do something special?

@EY90,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Yes, and yes.  I have yet to experience a (used) PC/motherboard which had no associated Windows license. The Windows product key is embedded into the UEFI firmware of your motherboard. If necessary, once you installed Windows, you can retrieve the product key using the "ShowKeyPlus" tool: http://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/2577-showkey.html.

Simply create a bootable Windows 10 flash drive on a different PC through this Microsoft link: Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com):

Upon completion, insert the aforementioned flash drive in one of your USB ports and power on. Should install W10 right up.  Of course, your PC should have at least one drive for it to install.  To make this process easier, just start out with one drive (HDD, SSD, M.2 NVMe SSD), and install/connect additional drive(s) later.  If somehow your PC doesn't start the Windows installation, hit the F10 key and make sure that the flash drive shows up in BIOS.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
