Hello @Savannah_32 ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

That message means Windows is waiting for the printer to respond, usually because the print queue is stuck or the printer is paused/offline.

Step 1: Clear the stuck print queue

  1. Press Windows + R

  2. Type control printers → press Enter

  3. Right-click your HP Envy 4520See what’s printing

  4. Click Printer (top menu)

    • Uncheck Pause Printing

    • Uncheck Use Printer Offline

  5. Click Printer → Cancel All Documents

  6. Close the window

Step 2: Restart Print Spooler (very important)

  1. Press Windows + R

  2. Type services.msc → Enter

  3. Find Print Spooler

  4. Right-click → Restart

  5. Close Services

Step 3: Power reset the printer

  1. Turn OFF the printer

  2. Unplug the power cable

  3. Wait 60 seconds

  4. Plug back in and turn it ON

Step 4: Set the printer as Default

  1. Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers

  2. Right-click HP Envy 4520

  3. Click Set as default printer

    • You should see a ✔ green tick

Step 5: Test print

  • Open Notepad

  • Type a few words

  • Press Ctrl + P

  • Select HP Envy 4520

  • Click Print

Hope this helps you resolve the issue.
