HP ENVY x360 - 15m-cn0011dx

I realized I had lots of updates hidden under my optional updates, but after installing them my computer restarted and now it will not boot up all the way. It takes me to an Automatic Repair screen. I have restarted the computer many times, tried all the troubleshooting options with the recovery manager and everything under advanced options. The hardware diagnosis did nothing, and when I try to backup files it says I have no storage, even if I try to backup just my photos or just my documents. When I try to undo the latest updates, it tells me it couldn't find a quality update and "ran into a problem and wont be able to uninstall the latest feature update" ?? I unfortunately do not have a system recovery point, and have tried booting up in safe mode, but everything takes me back to the automatic repair screen. I know a lot of the issue is me running out of storage, but most of my files are saved to the cloud. Is there a way I can backup my files onto a usb from the command prompt or anything? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Also adding that I have tried the BIOS update and there was not enough storage...

@skarst, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Envy!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I know how stressful it can be to see your HP Envy stuck in a repair loop, especially after a big round of updates. You're not alone in this, and I’m here to help.

Since it sounds like your system is choked for space and struggling to breathe, the cloud backup won’t help much until we free some room. One good route here is using the Command Prompt from the recovery screen to manually copy your files to a USB drive. Here's how:

Plug in your USB drive.

Go to Advanced Options > Command Prompt.

In the black window that pops up, type: notepad

(Yes — Notepad!)

When Notepad opens, click File > Open.
This gives you a basic file explorer.

From here, navigate to your files (usually in C:\Users\[YourName])

Right-click and Send to > USB Drive, or just drag and drop from the open dialog.

This can help you save your personal photos, documents, and any non-cloud content. Once you've secured your files, we can move on to a reset or clean install if needed.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
