I bought the hp Envy x360 laptop on Feb 2024. recently my hp laptop was working fine then all of a sudden it stopped turning on.
the indicator of the power button turns on for a few seconds then shuts off and when it’s on it turns on the caps lock light then it tirns off. Never boots up.
tge charger light is also on when plugged in when I try to turn in on I can’t hear the fan or see anything on the screen I have no idea what could be causing it it was working one day and not working the next
please help me fix this do I need to go to a repair shop or is it a simple fix I can do at home? I should have a warrantee on this product. I need it fixed asap. What do I do!

Hi @ElsieScout,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Envy x360 is encountering a hardware issue that prevents it from booting up properly. Given the symptoms—the power button light turns on briefly, caps lock light flashes, no fan noise, and a blank screen—it may be related to several possible causes, such as a power issue, a faulty component, or a stuck process.
Here are a few steps you can try at home before considering taking it to a repair shop:
1. Hard Reset (Power Drain)
- Unplug the charger and remove all connected devices (USB drives, etc.).
- If the battery is removable, remove the battery.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds. This drains any residual charge in the components.
- Reinsert the battery (if removable), plug in the charger, and try turning the laptop on again.
2. Check for Power Issues
- Test with another charger: If you have access to another compatible HP charger, try using that to rule out issues with the charging adapter.
- Check if the charging port and charging cable are functioning correctly by observing if the light on the charging port behaves normally.
3. BIOS Reset
- Press and hold the "Windows" + "B" keys, then press the power button for 1-3 seconds and release the power button (but keep holding the "Windows" + "B" keys).
- This can sometimes reset the BIOS and resolve boot issues.
4. Check the Caps Lock Light Pattern
- The blinking of the caps lock light could indicate an error code. Typically, it blinks in a pattern to represent specific hardware errors (e.g., two blinks for the BIOS, three for memory).
- Count the blinks to see if there is a pattern. If so, it may help pinpoint the issue.
5. External Display Test
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI or another compatible cable to check if it’s a display issue. If you see an image on the external display, it could indicate a screen issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
