OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000a (207P7AV)

My HP OMEN 30L keep rebooting seemingly at random times. This problem just started this week, I've had my OMEN 30L for over a year and have barley been using it as it is my 2nd desktop. I've kept up with Microsoft Windows Updates, Driver Update and any HP updates through the HP Support Assistant.

I've seen in other posts that the issue could be related to the video card but I'm not sure and not sure where/how to check or verify from the Windows Logs on what's causing my desktop to keep rebooting. I haven't installed any new software in the last 30-days and have not installed/replaced any of the hardware. Its almost unusable at this point. Thanks in-advance for any help or assistance anyone can offer.

Hi @NW_Natural

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Your PC could be blue screening but it is configured to automatically restart. The blue screen error message might help to zero in on the cause.

You could have a heat problem, a component problem, a component driver problem, or a Windows system file problem.

Check your PC's hardware as follows:

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F2". Run system and component tests. Run extensive tests.

You probably have a Windows problem if the the PC does not restart when running hardware tests.

Now try to set Windows to show the blue screen error as follows if you get enough time to do this.

Enter Advanced System Properties in search. Select Settings in Startup and Recovery which is located in the Advanced tab.

Uncheck automatically restart and click okay. Click okay again.

The PC should blue screen the next time it does a restart.

You can also check event logs as follows:

Enter Event Viewer in search. Open event viewer.

Look at all Windows Logs to see if you can spot (critical events) which might correlate to the shutdown and restart times.

Thanks @Bill_To for the quick response, easy to follow steps and advice. I ran the Extensive System and Components tests like you suggested; it took almost the entire day for them all to complete but everything passed w/o issue (no errors / no random restarting). I also enabled the Blue Screen info like you suggested but so far (today only) I have not experienced the rebooting problem. I'll continue to monitor the issue this week and report back any information I find in the logs if I start getting crashes again.

Just after posting this; (you know what) the computer restarted again. This time I went into the Event Viewer/System Logs and I see a Critical error with the Source listed as "Kernal-Power" Event-ID 41. I'll monitor and go more through the logs now to see how far back this error shows up. I updated the RAM (only change to the PC) last Summer but haven't had any issues that I remember since then. Thanks again for your help and suggestions. I'll do some research on the "Kernal-Power" error.

UPDATE: The blue sceen says STOP CODE: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL / What Failed: NETIO.SYS

What would be a good resource/setting for the OMEN Gaming HUB > Overclocking?
I've never configured anything under overclocking but I notice that my Core Multiplier is set to 173x and my Core Voltage is set to 1.37500V and I'm not sure what should be the proper settings or if this has anything todo with the crashes I'm seeing.

UPDATE: I Disabled Fast Startup option, Shut Down and Restarted my computer. I logged back into OMEN Gaming Hub and now I see my settings are set to Core Multiplier = 153x and Core Voltage = 1.16250V. I did not make any changes to these settings previously. I'll shutdown the PC for the night and monitor if these settings changes when I reboot again in the morning.

Hi @NW_Natural

My pleasure.

The Netio.sys error could be the network adapter or the WIFI adapter.

You may need newer drivers or the component needs to be replaced. One of these components or the drivers for the components is causing Windows to freak out.

Ethernet is integrated in the MB but the WIFI adapter should be a M.2 type device which can be removed from the MB.

You can download Realtek: Ethernet and Wireless drivers for your PC Here. A BIOS update is also available.

You may have a faulty component if the HP drivers don't fix the problem.

HI @NW_Natural

My pleasure.

You might want to go back to the factory RAM configuration to test stability.

Incompatible RAM can cause all kinds of weird stuff.
