Recently noticed that my Omen is NOT going into sleep mode anymore. Few weeks ago, it went to sleep after 15 minutes, the monitor, lights and fans went off. Like an idiot, i accidentally clicked on the HP update in windows update.. Now, monitor turn off, lights turn off but the fans stay on! Very, VERY annoying!
I suspect is has something to do with the HP F.32 firmware because before that, my BIOS had more options to control and now, it's less than a 286SX from 1992! Also, on HP website, there is no option to choose Windows 11 23H2 only 22H2 and the BIOS version there is F.31 Rev A which i tried to push back onto this chip but no luck.
So, what the hell happened? My Omen doesn't need to have the cooling fans on during sleep mode and i should have the option to control that! I have re-installed the Windows 11 23H2 update and no change which only leaves the HP F.32 BIOS update. I also have 3 Kingston Fury Beast RGB 3200MHz ram modules (3x8=24) and in HP Assistant Device Spec page it shows me that 1st ram module is at 2400, 2nd is at 3200 and 3rd is at 2400. Why???

OK! I got somewhere FINALLY! Thanks to Beemer for activating my 'brain storming' from 1996 when MS-DOS was the code.
I have resolved the sleeping issue of my OMEN by doing this:
First, i ran the commands from Beemer to see the power reports and then went to work on weeding them out.
I have released ALL processes back to normal and computer still sleeps, even with the OMEN lightning background process and the rest of the crap that HP puts in.
Second, I went to Task Scheduler and cleaned the house! I deleted Meta, HP, Google and few more of the ones that were set to trigger every 15 minutes! I did not touch any timers from the Microsoft folder. If chrome tells you u need to update, then u update. There is no need for the task to run every 15 minutes to check for stupid updates!
Third, I've reset the power plan to Default (balanced) and made sure that in Device Manager, ANY item that has Power Management tab is set to 'Allow to sleep/turn off' and ONLY set the keyboard to be 'Allowed to wake', not the mouse, not the printer or net adapter.
Fourth, I went to Services and looked over ALL of them carefully and disabled stupid ones like Google updater, MS Edge updater, Bitdefender VPN (i dont use VPN), basically, any updater except Windows Update which re-enables itself no matter what i did. Disable services that make no sense, that are not useful for daily use and make sure to change settings in Recovery tab to 'Tank no action' otherwise, they'll re-enable themselves and wake your computer back up just to check if stupid Google toddlers came up with another update to ruin your perfectly working browser.
After all this drama, i can press the Power key on my keyboard and the computer will sleep right away, it will also sleep on the set timer (3min off monitor, 5 min sleep) and stay in that state, BUT, every 10 minutes, the fans will come on for 15 seconds and then turn off. That happens every 10-15 minutes which is NOT BAD considering it didn't want to sleep at all!
So there it is folks, solutions to your sleeping problems, at least 99% of them.
I've read many google posts about this and that, seen uTube videos about the 'experts' on this and that and got nowhere, until i started to get curious and began to run programs on my own like the Computer Management, Device Management and Powercfg /? read it, run it and you'll find your hidden digital disease.
Thanks Beemer, this post can now be closed.

Slots 1 and 3 are accessed concurrently and the effective speed is 2 x 2400 = 4800
Slot 2 is not paired and and the memory controller has less difficulty with it. There is no need to reduce the speed to be able to handle the data transfer.
Try the sleep diagnostic tools and see what they show.
Sleep Report | A list of possible problems ranked asd Errors, Warnings, or Informational |
Sleep Study | The history of sleep going back several days |
These report are obtained by using the Administrators command prompt.
Copy and paste the following into the command prompt window for the energy report.
powercfg /energy .\energy-report.html |
Note the number of errors and warnings.

I have both reports and i've fixed 3 errors but can't figure out the ASPM and the other 2 say they don't prevent the system from sleeping. So far, i have ALL check boxes checked in Power Management tabs to allow system to suspend device (where available) in device manager, i have set the power to Balanced, set the Turn off monitor to 1 min, set the sleep to 2 minutes and after 1 minute only the screen turns off, fans keep spinning, ram RGB lights turn off but front case light stays on. No power options in BIOS so i assume Win11 controls everything on this PC and no matter what settings, none work. I'm not a PC expert, i'm a car expert but so far, this is way more ridiculous than working on a Tesla or a 1985 F150.
I've googled how to enable ASPM and i get billions of answers that none work. I tried to contact HP but since my 'warranty expired' there is no more way to contact them except the useless virtual assistant. Here are 2 links to the energy and sleep reports in my google drive:
UPDATE#1: I found the ASPM, its in Advanced Power Settings: PCI Express. I've set it to moderate or max with no effect. I've reset the power plans to default and no change. The HDD is set to 1min, CPU min changed to 0% and max to 100% (5% min before), display to 5 min (stays on after 5 min), sleep set to 5 min (doesn't sleep), wake timers are OFF.
After restart, now i see that Realtek HD Audio device is preventing computer from sleeping, **bleep** is wrong with this system? Oh wait, i did mention a can of worms in the OP.. Fix one, another shows up...
UPDATE#2: I left the computer at idle with ALL windows closed. After an hour i went back to my room and the computer is still running, just the monitor was off. Also, the ram RGB lights were flashing the 'rainbow' colors ( i have them set to breathe only RED color) and front diamond was WHITE when i have it set to low brightness of RED. So it's either HP BIOS firmware issue or the OMEN Gaming Hub/Lightning control software which i have set to turn off lights after 5 min of idle.
Also, i've noticed that the CPU is always running at high speed, never goes down. Here is a screenshot:

I do not know what the problem is with the audio driver
You might install the one from HP site dated Aug 2023
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp148501-149000/sp148939.exe
Could audio be active during sleep request? for example, Itunes playing something?
Just guessing but you might also look in the event view for "veto sleep" or something to that effect

Well, here is some strange info; After looking at the processes, i can see that the OMEN LightStudio-background.exe is constantly triggering the cpu and not stabilizing so i ended the process and my lights stayed on the way i have them set (breathing slowly in red color). Then i pressed sleep button on my keyboard and the computer went to sleep. Fans turned OFF, ram lights turned OFF but the front diamond was pulsating in white.
Then i tried to wait for timed sleep and i've set 3min off for monitor and 5min for sleep. After 3 min the monitor turned off along with ram lights, then 2 min later, the power supply fan went off, cpu and case fan slowed down to half speed, then the front cover diamond light went to white color, then all fans woke up and started to spin above 1000rpm for about 20 seconds and then ram lights came back on and monitor turned on as if the computer woke up from not being able to sleep by the win11 timer. I'll experiment more with this but something tells me it's related to the OMEN software..
UPDATE#1: I've set all the OMEN and many other processes into Efficiency Mode and the computer went to sleep after 5 min. Everything went off except the front diamond light was breathing in white color. I left it for a while at that state and went to work on my car, then came back after an hour and the monitor was OFF, fans were back on spinning above 1000 rpm (i can tell its faster than 800 on quiet mode) and the stupid ram RBG lights were on rainbow and front diamond was breathing in white color. After i moved the mouse, the fans slowed down and my lights came back to red as they should be.
Something is causing the computer to wake up from sleep state, i did the Powercfg /requests and it's NONE for all. How can i find what the hell is causing it?
UPDATE#2: I played with the Powercfg parameters and ran /waketimers and found some HP printer service! I don't even have a HP printer, i use Brother! I immediately deleted the HP folder in Task Scheduler and i'll test again if it sleeps or not. What a nightmare with Win11, schedulers, timers, backdoor operations!
Also, the /DEVICEQUERY doesn't work for some reason..

That is pretty good, most users cannot do what you have done.
I recommend you mark your answer as a solution and suggest you post a reference to it over at reddit.
There are a lot of OMEN threads about problems sleeping and your solution might help. For example this one.

After 3 days, no more issues with sleeping. I press the power button on my Logitech keyboard and it goes to sleep after 2-3 minutes and stays at sleep until i wake it up. What i also did was DISABLE DCOM since i don't know what it is, i don't use it and it does not affect the daily operation of my computer. After disabling DCOM, i no longer get interrupted sleeps.
To disable DCOM: Win + R (Run windows), type dcomcnfg, click on Component Services, then Computers, you should see My Computer, right mouse click and select Properties, in Default Properties tab uncheck the 'Enable distributed COM on this computer' and restart. If everything that you have been doing is still working fine, then leave that off and your computer should sleep better.
Also, run Powercfg /SystemPowerReport in the Run command window (Win + R) as an Administrator and that will generate a web based power report which you should study to find what is causing your sleep issues. Windows generates the report in C:/Windows/System32/sleepstudy-report.html so navigate there to open it.
As for the Logitech M585 BT mouse waking up the computer no matter what, nothing can be done about that except power off the mouse. Windows does not control it in any way, it will wake up the computer no matter what options you change weather it's on BT or USB connection.

I had forgotten about the diagnostic that checks for devices that can wake up the PC. I should have mentioned it earlier
Run the following command from the windows administrators command prompt
powercfg -devicequery wake_armed |
for example the following devices are enabled even if the PC is turned off
They are all drawing power EVEN WHEN LAPTOP IS TURNED OFF.
uncheck the following
as explained in step 1 here
