OMEN Obelisk
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have an HP Omen Obelisk desktop. I've had it for three or four months now running games like PUBG and Dark Souls 3 as well as editing softwares like the Adobe suite, all with no problems. About a month ago I was in the process of shutting the computer down from the home screen when I accidentally hit the switch on the power strip it was connected to. The computer naturally shut off immediately. When I turned it back on, a red/pink light came on and a series of beeps played. the pattern (2 long, 2 short) matched the error code for a corrupt BIOS, so I let it run and hoped it would repair itself and start up normally. No luck; it never did. I looked up some solutions online and saw that you had to access the BIOS menu from start up, so I tried that (with both a WIRED and WIRELESS keyboard) by pressing f10, f12, esc, etc, etc. No luck. I couldn't get the monitor it was connected to to display anything and so I couldn't access the BIOS menu. I'm unable to do a hardware recovery or a Sure Start or anything like that because the computer never displays anything. Took it into an HP approved repair store and had them look at it. They had it for seven days and couldn't figure anything out so finally they gave it back to me.

A friend of mine said it might be an issue with the motherboard or power source, but I have never owned a gaming computer that you can take apart and replace different parts of, so I had no idea. I want to get this fixed if at all possible. Does anyone know of any solutions or have had this problem before?

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Hi

That was way over my head, however I did get some of the text.....

Hopefully one of these documents will cover (and solve) your problem...

https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c00042629

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833

Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.
Press and hold the Windows Key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds.
Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.
The HP BIOS Update screen displays and the recovery begins automatically. Follow any on-screen prompts to continue the startup to complete the recovery.
HP BIOS Update recovery in progress

If the HP BIOS Update screen does not display, repeat the previous steps but press the Windows Key and the V key. If the screen still does not display, your computer might not support the feature or there is a hard drive issue. Continue to the next step to install a BIOS recovery file from the HP website.
If the Power light turns off, the Power button was held too long. Repeat the previous steps, making sure to hold the button for only 2 to 3 seconds.

There seem to be 2 Omen Obelisks, if you give the SKU: it could be halved perhaps...

and each one a hundred or more options.

So this is probably wrong...

If in doubt please ask.

Hello Lil_Boy_Blue,

Thanks for your reply. My Obelisk is a 0000 series, 875-0014 to be exact. No steps involving pressing any combination of keyboard buttons has worked thus far, as mentioned originally, but thanks for your advice in any case. I'm wondering a) where to take this at this point or b) if a single part can be replaced, like the motherboard or power source or something.

Thanks again, and have a great day,

Alex

Hi

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/omen-by-hp-875-0000-obelisk-desktop-pc-series/23302709/model/23... is the correct page.

Main Board HP name: Edoras          SSID: 84FD

The BIOS recovery would either take a 2nd copy internally or look to the Hard Drive for a copy.

This is the BIOS file

HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 84FD)

So if you can get a friend to help make the BIOS flash drive and boot from that you may be lucky.

But I think you already tried all the methods described there.
