For the last 5 months, I have been having problems with my computer freezing. It just freezes on whatever screen I was on and no key presses work. I have to reboot it to start again. This happens randomly and probably about once per day. There seems to be no correlation with using any particular piece of software. I have replaced the SSD (which showed a fault on diagnostics), the RAM, the Motherboard and the CPU. All the software, which is minimal, has been reloaded including Windows 11. The computer still freezes – there has been no change. The local computer repair shop have no idea what is causing this and have run out of suggestions. Can anyone here help me?

Greetings @Mike-B3
Welcome to the HP Forum.
Am I correct in thinking you have replaced:
- The SSD
- The RAM
- The MB
- And the CPU, which has integrated graphics?
And you have reinstalled W11. It also looks like you are not installing a lot of additional software after doing a clean W11 installation.
The PC still locks up when you are only connecting a mouse and keyboard to the PC?
All that's left is to try the mouse and keyboard in all USB ports or try a different mouse and keyboard. Or try a different power brick.

Bill_To - many thanks for your reply and suggestions.
You are correct that I have replaced practically everything! My mouse and keyboard are wireless - Could they still be causing a problem? I also have a printer connected by USB. I will try getting a new power brick and try that.
Many thanks again.

Greetings @Mike-B3
My pleasure.
A wonky USB device (mouse, keyboard, or printer) can cause problems.
You replaced the MB so the the new MB's USB ports should be okay. Maybe try a different mouse and keyboard and disconnect the printer to see how things go.
Then try a different power brick.

Greetings Bill_To.
I have followed your advice and changed the keyboard and mouse and the computer froze again. It freezes only intermittently - on average every 3-4 days and usually within the first hour or two after reboot. I also ordered a new power brick which arrived afer 3 weeks (from China!). Unfortunately the computer froze again a day later.
One new piece of information - once on rebooting the computer, it froze in reboot with a screen of horizontal green lines. It has only done this once. Picture attached.
Any ideas - could it be the graphics card?

Greetings @Mike-B3
Sorry to see a new power brick, a different mouse, and a different keyboard did not help. Troubleshooting this type of problem is a process of elimination. Doing it yourself can be very expensive.
I can't vouch for a Chinese branded Power supply.
However, messed up video could point to a graphics problem.
But your PC has integrated CPU graphics and you replaced the CPU.
The only component left to look at is, unfortunately, the motherboard.
Maybe the PC has a thermal problem. Download and run HWiNFO portable to check component temps and fan speeds. Do you clean the fans and vents on a regular basis?
You have sunk a lot of money into trying to fix the PC. You might be able to buy an exact replacement MB at eBay using the HP MB part number.
I don't know if you want to spend any more money at this point.

Bill_To - Many thanks for your continued insights. Unfortunately I have replaced the motherboard and the computer continued to freeze! However, it has started to produce a blank screen on booting up. It flashes couple of times and goes blank. I googled this and have found that pressing "Win Ctrl Shift B" takes me to the log in page and the computer seems to work OK after that - well it hasn't frozen for a five days anyway.
The local computer repair shop who ran out of ideas still think it may be a software conflict - so am slowly reinstalling drivers from the HP site. I reinstalled the 2 graphics drivers and thought I had fixed it but then it froze again on the 9th day. Not sure there is much else that I can do.

Greetings @Mike-B3
My pleasure.
I didn't mention reinstalling Windows and other third party software since your initial post seems to indicate you did this.
I tried for the first time ever: "Win, Ctrl, Shift, B" on my PC in an active Windows session with video.
The screen momentarily blacked out while giving a one beep code.
Maybe try a different keyboard. You did try a different keyboard and mouse.
Try all USB ports.
I don't think you have a bad MB USB controller since you replaced the MB. It would be very unusual to see two different MBs having the same problem.
It seems like you replaced every component which can be replaced. I don't know what else to tell you.
Your PC has a very unusual issue??

Greetings Bill_To
You are right - it is very a very unusual problem. I contacted HP who advised a full reset which I carried out. So far it hasn't frozen but I still get the horizontal white flashes on boot up and then a blank screen. Win-Ctrl-Shift-B has stopped working so now I just reboot it again and it starts fine. Also, it hasnt frozen for 7 days so something has changed! Will contact HP again tomorrow but think they will probably advise me to send the computer to their engineers and charge me a lot of money! The computer is over three years old so not sure I want to spend lots on it.
Really want to try to find the solution but not sure I will!
Thanks for your help.

Greetings Bill_To,
Just a quick update FYI. The blank screen and flashing light on booting computer has beeen solved! I decided to check the cables from the screen to the computer and one had become loose as the connector on the board was faulty. Have managed to wedge it with a shim and it seems to be behaving itself. The freezing problem remains but is quite infrequent and will live with that. Don't you love tech!
