It fails to boot into Windows, startup repair fails, can't even Reset PC.  Tried to repair boot bcd from command line, but that fails as well. I'm able to see all the files from the command line and successfully (robo)copied the OS to the secondary drive for backup.

I ran the hardware diagnostic and it passes all tests, but then at the bottom of the screen it says it failed. No daignostic code.  I'm guessing the PC hardware is fine, but the diagnostic test is wonky?

I'm thinking the next step is to reinstall from USB.  How do I do that?  Can I use a regular Windows 11 or do I need to get an installer from HP?

Hi:

You can make your own plain W11 installation flash drive with the media creation tool from the link below (2nd option).

Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)

You can also use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the PC.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Microsoft Store Apps

Since you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter the notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.

The PC's product number is:  3V2Z3AV#ABA

Hi Paul, thanks for the quick reply.  I was able to reinstall from a Windows 11 USB and so should be all set.  Thanks again!
