Hi, Denise:

Hopefully you will get it to boot from the flash drive with Legacy mode enabled.

I'm also using the Rufus method with ISO download this time.  MIght make a difference 😉 Hope you had a good night Paul, mine was good, got enough rest 😉

Rufus instructions followed, but "Start" is not highlighted, and I think "Ready" is supposed to be Green.  I have the clean USB Flash in the port on my Windows laptop.  Not sure what the issue is Paul?  The ISO downloaded fine and saved to my laptop but Rufus isn't picking it up like it's supposed to automatically.  There's a copy still in "download" area as well as a copy I moved to my HP Tech. Folder.

Hi:

You have to click on the 'Select' button on the upper right side of the program window (next to the boot selection menu) and then browse to the location where the ISO file downloaded to and you add it to Rufus that way.

They don't tell you that and I think the first time I used the program; I was stuck were you are wondering why the ISO file wasn't showing up.

ohmygosh, lol!  That worked!!  Ok, onward and upward we go!!  Thank you again Paul 😉

Glad someone else was puzzled by that.

I thought it was just me.  😊

I doubt you are puzzled by much Paul, your instructions are so clear and easy to follow, it's how my brain can somehow skip over or forget important info, so I have to remember to read again.  And I forget to do that 😂

Ok, I'm all set to upload from the flash-drive, ISO downloaded just fine 😉 I know you are wishing me luck, and I'll report in to let you know 😉

I don't want to mess this up Paul so I need to ask you one more question.

Since my computer is not logging in right, I can get to some screens, but not others.  Can you confirm for me that I need to be in the blue screen that starts with Recovery, and gives me the option to choose Advanced Options, and then Reset PC?

Right now, I am in "Choose an Option" blue screen with options Continue, Use a device (this is the one I'm thinking),Troubleshoot, or I'm sure it's not Turn off PC 😁

Hi, Denise:

You do not want to be in the W10 recovery options window.

You need to have the flash drive plugged into a USB port.

Turn on or restart the PC.

Press/Tap the ESC key to get the menu of options like you did yesterday.

Select the F9 boot options menu and hopefully your Rufus-created USB flash drive is showing up in the boot options menu.

Select that USB flash drive and press the Enter key.

The PC should boot from the flash drive (I hope).

Ok, I have to hard-boot to get there.  Is it safe to have the flash drive inserted when I do that, or wait til I have the menu up in BIOS?
