You didn't do anything wrong.
It looks like in addition to disabling secure boot in the BIOS, you also need to enable Legacy mode.
That setting should be where the secure boot setting was.
I was hoping that just disabling secure boot would get the USB flash drive to show up under the EFI boot sources menu.
So go back and do the Esc + F10 setup thing again disable Legacy mode, save the settings and hopefully, the USB flash drive will show up in both the EFI and Legacy boot sources menus.
It should definitely show up in the legacy boot menu but if you install W10 from a legacy boot source, you won't be able to enable secure boot again.

It's already disabled Paul. Maybe I should try downloading a new Win 10 another way? Would that be from the Cloud? Or the other option they give me in Advanced options in Recovery area I can manage to get into? It failed several times, but I don't know why.

I did go in and set the sequence so the PC would boot from the USB drive first. Maybe I did that wrong? There's two ways, just set for one time boot, or set as first in boot sequence until I guess I change it back?

You don't need to change the boot sequence in the BIOS.
With secure boot disabled and legacy mode enabled, when you select the F9 boot options menu, there should be two sets of bootable USB devices...EFI and Legacy.
See if this works...
Instead of the Microsoft download site automatically making the USB flash drive installer, download the Windows ISO file with the Media creation tool from the link I posted in my first reply.
Then use the free Rufus utility to transfer the ISO file to a USB flash drive so that it is bootable.
Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way
Select the GPT partition scheme from the menu in the illustration where it is showing MBR.
I hope this works, because I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

Ok Paul,
no worries, I'm going to take a break and eat some dinner. I soooooo appreciate your help, and if it doesn't work, I'm just going to take it down and have a shop here in town look at it. I'm saving all your instructions together here so I can follow them 🙂 You've been the biggest, and nicest help of anyone I talked too 😉
I do still have my laptop I'm using and I bought it about a month ago, good timing I'd say 😉 It's powerful enough to play my puzzle type games on too 🙂 Thanks again, and I'll probably work on this tomorrow a.m. I'll atleast let you know how it goes, Denise

now that I see Legacy needs to be enabled, and sequence of boot doesn't need to be changed, I'm going to try that method first today Paul, then the last method 🙂 I will let you know how it comes out 🙂 If it fails, I'll take the "problem" down to the puter-shop at some point. It's out of my budget for now but like I said, I have my backup laptop so I won't be totally without 😉
