HP Pavilion p7-1449
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Pavilion p7-1449 desktop running Windows 10 had run into the problem of freezing or lock up randomly. This had happened since my Windows 10 had installed the Fall Creators Update some time ago. But, this freezing problem had been solved by turning off the "fast startup" option in power options on Windows 10 on my PC. Until a week ago, my Windows 10 operating system had been repaired by installing some Windows updates. This brings back the freezing problem on my HP PC again.  Each day or couple of days, at some point, my HP PC seems to freeze or crash once while I work on the computer. After I hard reboot my PC after the freeze, the PC seems to work fine for the rest of the day. This freezing problem seems to repeat once in couple of days.  Again, this  suggests the problem seem to be related to some setup in my HP Windows 10. Does anyone know a way to reactivate or unfreeze my computer without do a hard shut down or a hard restart of the computer ?  Does any one know how to fix the HP system freezing problem ? Help needed and appreciated. My HP PC uses LAN internet connection.

I suggest you run a System Test to confirm the Hardware Functionality of your computer first

- Shut down the computer completely
- Turn it back on, then tap the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup menu screen is displayed.
- Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
- Click System Tests

Next run the SFC Scan to check for Windows File errors. You can refer to this Link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4026529/windows-10-using-system-file-checker

I also suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊
