There wasn't any Board that lists my concerns so I chose Operating System. I have an older HP Portable USB 3.0 Drive that I had used for PC backups. I cannot use it on my Windows 10 PC to back up. Is this too old or are there drivers that I can download to make it work? It is model hp pd1000a. Thank you.

Can you "see" it on File Explorer ? What are the software do you use for backup ?
Regards.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I can see the portable drive and the files that are on it. Apparently, I do not have any software installed for this as I cannot do any backups. At least I cannot figure out how to do so. The HP Portable USB 3.0 Drive has 614 GB free of 931 GB so I do have a little bit of room to add any new files, etc. I realize that this is an older drive but if possible I would like to use it to add files to. Thank you for any additional help.

I responded to your reply. Yes, I can see the files that are on the HP Portable USB 3.0 Drive but cannot get it to backup some of my PC files. Apparently, there isn't any software to do that. Are there drivers and or software to make this device do back ups?
Thank you for your anticipated help.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, this HP Portable USB 3.0 Drive (purchased in 2012) was used on an older Windows PC. I can see the files that are on it but apparently this drive cannot be used for backing up the Windows 10 PC? Thankfully, at least I can see the files and add what I choose to this PC. I just had wanted to use it to further back up the files on this computer.

You can delete the old Backup-Files, because on a WIN10 computer you can't use them any more.
Use a professional Backup-Tool for your WIN10 computer like Macrium-Reflect (Google 😀 ) It's free.
Create different backups from the system and your personal files!
Good luck

Thank you for your reply. I am restoring the files that are on the HP Portable drive and putting them on my HP desktop Windows 10 PC. Thankfully, I am able to transfer them from the drive to the PC. I just wanted to know if there was software so that this external drive could be used again for backup. Again, thank you for your help.
