HP All-in-One - 23-r010
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My All in One HP computer has been running slow. I  downloaded the HP Support Assistant today and it said that I needed a important BIOS update. I clicked on "update" and now my computer just beeps 8 times....stays black for about a minute. For two seconds shows the HP blue logo and then goes black again.

HELP!!

It is 7 years old .

Not good!

Possibly a reset of the CMOS may fix the problem.  I looked up your system and did not find any buttons or jumpers so it appears you will have to unplug the system from the wall and remove the battery for 30 seconds

Thank you for these instructions. I will give it a try.

You are right. " Not good"!
I wish I had not of listened to the HP Support suggestion.

I somehow knew it was wrong to fool with the BIOS.... oh well. I will post back when I give this suggestion a try.

BeemerBiker,

I followed the instructions ( video was great) and removed the CMOS battery for 30 seconds and then returned it.

But sadly it didn't do anything but return to  the same problem.

Powered on.....

eight beeps....

black for about a solid minute......

then the blue circle HP appeared for about 2 seconds and disappeared....

LONG time being black and returns to the 8 beeps again.

Possibly bios is corrupted.  The only tool I know about is that WIN B  recovery.  It does not always work or so I have read.

As a last attempt I am thinking of creating a BIOS recovery USB disk from my working computer.

I am confused as to the process of downloading from the website the proper BIOS information.

What info from my computer do I need to find the proper download, and would downloading that file to my  working computer in any way corrupt my  computer since it is identical to the malfunctioning computer?

I hope these questions are making sense! lol

I bought a flash drive and want to try and create a BIOS recovery disk as a last attempt to access my computer.

I cannot find a link here on HP to copy it off of the website. Can you help me find it? Thank you.
