How can I manually uninstall HP Support Solutions Framework so I can install the latest version? I need to get the latest firmware updates for my computer.
I am currently running Windows 10 (64 bit) but the problem started with Windows 8.1. When I go to HP Support to check for updated drivers it says I need to install the latest HP Support Solutions Framework . I download the install file from the HP site but when I try to install it, I get the message 'can not find hpsupportsolutionsframework.msi file' - it can't uninstall the existing version. I try to uninstall it from the Windows Add/Remove programs and get the same error. The only thing I've found so far is a couple of third party software programs that want $30 for a program to uninstall it.

Hi,
If you can't get the old version uninstalled via the Control Panel --->Programs and features then try Revo Uninstaller.
Be sure that you choose the right download for HP Support Assistant. One is for desktop and the other is for desktops.

Hi,
Go to the Control Panel and uninstall HP Support Assistant. Now install the new version. Try this link for the latest version of HP’s Support Assistant.

Took your advice and uninstalled HP Support Assistant and then installed sp71727.exe from the HP Support web page. As part of the install, it came up with the HPSupportSolutionFramework.msi file in the c:\swsetup\sp71727 folder. I told it to overwrite all files. After it finished, I tried installing the HPSupportSolutionsFramework-12.0.30.81.exe file again - but got the same error about finding the HPSupportSolutionFramework.msi file. When I tried to point it to the c:\swsetup\sp71727 folder to use that .msi file - it identified it as the wrong version. So, the installation failed again.
Any other ideas?

It appears that the Revo Uninstaller was able to get the rest of the HP Support Solutions Framework out of there. I was able to get the Framework to install. Now I hope what Revo had highlighted in the registry for deletion was only for the Framework and not another piece of software. I get nervous when in the registry and only having long number strings to identify what you are looking at.

Hi,
Usually the registry cleaners will notify you if there are shared entries with other software and if so you should get a chance to leave the shared entry or let the cleaner take care of it. I have used JV16 Power Tools for a number of years and it works quite well. I do like the JV 16 Power Tools product as it has a registry compression function that will eliminate all of the unassociated "stubs" so that the size of the registry can be reduced. Like most registry tools, there is a danger associated with using a tool that might have bugs.

I am having the exact same issue. I haven't been able to install HP support assistant/framework since I upgraded to windows 10. I have used revo to uninstall the programs and the registry files, then downloaded the latest support assistant file from the HP site. During the install I get the same message as the above user about locating the msi file. Any idea?

Go to Microsoft at the link below. It will show you how to uninstall HP Support Solutions Framework. Then reinstall it. Revo Unistaller did not work. It has taken me hours to finally find the solution that works. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed...
