Alyin, I urge you not to give up if you have the inclination and the time.  I was once where you are but have experienced great joy.  Here's what worked for me

From the download link that Lawrence has provided, download Smart Zero Core Image Z6A44017  Rev.1  You'll get a file named sp63887.exe.  Find yourself a thumb drive and when you run this program, it will format and populate the thumb drive properly.  Indeed, I found that this whole business is not helped by the fact that HP has a system that is picky about thumb drives.  Going back as much as 12 years, I've found this to be a problem.  Thanks much, HP!  Remember, though, that this program will properly set up a thumb drive that the t410 just won't read.  Persevere!

It took me three thumb drives out of my bag of junk to find one that worked and I'm sorry I can't tell you the make or model because it was a party favor from a few years ago and has no information on it except Go Patriots!  Local high school team name. So, I ran sp63887.exe against three drives randomly fished out of the bag, figuring one might work.  Of course, you can also get that one that the HP tech recommended to Lawrence.

For the grand and mysterious event, turn off the t410 and plug the thumb drive into the left-most usb port on the back of the t410, the one closest to the VGA connector.  When you're ready, click-click the power connector.  I had to do this bit of legerdemain a couple times to get it to take, but the clicks need to be pretty quick.   When this works, what you get is some Linux-y looking text in the upper left of your screen asking if you want to reload the computer image.  Key a y and it will begin.  The adventure is yours from here, but what you'll have is a factory fresh t410 , ready for setup to your taste and curiosity.  Generally I use Tight VNC to do screen mirroring so I had to quickly set up and learn RDP on one of the Win7 desktops in my lab.  But you may already have all that running for you where you are.

No kidding, this all worked.  And I got a couple of these t410s from GW for $3.00, each.

Good luck to you!

Sorry, Alyin.  I said click-click the power connector.  I meant power button on the front tf the t410.

Thank you very much for your detailed information, I passed on the problem by selling them on ebay, lol...

BTW, the buyer was able to get it done somehow.

Thank you again mate.

Hi,

I had the same problem with HP T410 All-in-one TC where i wanted to upgrade the firmware or do a factory reset.

Whenever i try to boot from usb, the TC beeps few times then directly goes to Citrix receiver.

I tried many Thinupdate versions but the version that solved the issue was 2.2.9, you just need to install that version and use it to create the bootable usb with the image Z6A44019, below is the link in order to download it:
