So my docking station was working for a few months then one day the dock stopped working. The LED under the dock was flashing white. I unplugged it for a while then plugged it back in and still the same issue. Is this a power problem or is it a loose connection or something?

Hi @ATWasHere18,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A flashing white LED on the HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock can indicate a few different issues. Here are some potential causes and troubleshooting steps.
Power Supply Issue:
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the dock and the power outlet.
- Try using a different power outlet.
- Check if the power adapter is functioning properly by testing it with another compatible device.
Connection Issue:
- Make sure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the dock and your laptop.
- Inspect the USB-C cable for any visible damage. If possible, try using a different USB-C cable.
Firmware/Driver Issue:
- Ensure that the firmware and drivers for the docking station are up to date. You can find the latest updates on the HP support website.
Overheating or Internal Fault:
- If the dock was in use for an extended period, it might have overheated. Unplug it and let it cool down for a while before plugging it back in.
To further narrow down the issue, try the following:
- Test with Another Device: Connect the dock to a different laptop to see if the issue persists.
- Test Without Peripherals: Disconnect all peripherals (monitors, USB devices, etc.) from the dock and see if the LED behavior changes when only the power adapter and USB-C cable are connected.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
