Hi @Twinky2024,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

The "NTLDR is missing" error typically occurs when the computer is trying to boot from a non-bootable source or if the boot sector on the hard drive is damaged. This error is common on older systems like the HP Pavilion p7-1247cb and usually indicates a problem with the Windows boot files.

Here’s how you can try to fix the "NTLDR is missing" error:

1. Check Boot Order in BIOS

  • Restart your computer.
  • Press the Esc or F10 key repeatedly as the computer starts to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Once in the BIOS, navigate to the Boot menu.
  • Ensure that the hard drive where Windows is installed is set as the first boot device.
  • Save changes and exit the BIOS.

2. Check for a Non-Bootable Disk

  • Ensure that no non-bootable disks (CDs, DVDs, USB drives) are inserted into the computer.
  • Remove any such devices and restart your computer.

3. Use Windows Installation or Recovery Media

  • Insert your Windows installation disc or USB drive, or use a Windows recovery disk.
  • Boot from the installation or recovery media.
    • You may need to press a key to boot from the media when prompted.
  • Choose your language and keyboard layout, then select Repair your computer.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Twinky2024,

Please find the remaining steps.

4. Repair the Boot Sector

  • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
  • In the Command Prompt, type the following commands one by one, pressing Enter after each:

  • After running these commands, remove the installation or recovery media and restart your computer.

5. Copy NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM from the Installation Media

  • Boot from the Windows installation or recovery media again.
  • Open the Command Prompt from the Advanced options menu.
  • Identify the drive letter of your installation media. It could be D:, E:, etc.

  • Restart your computer.

6. Replace Hard Drive (if necessary)

  • If none of the above methods work, the hard drive might be failing. Consider running diagnostics on the hard drive or replacing it if necessary.

7. Reinstall Windows

  • As a last resort, you may need to reinstall Windows. This will erase all data on the drive, so back up any important files before proceeding.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, the hard drive may have a serious fault, or there could be other hardware issues at play. Contact phone support for repair options.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
