Two-Part Question:

Firmware and Drivers Outdated & HP will not accept my serial number or recognize my Windows version

1) None of the forms here on HP will accept my serial number. I tried to register this HP All-in-One in multiple place here at their website. None of the SN forms accept the serial number. I have tried the copy and paste and manual entry. The same sn that is printed on the outside on the label matches the one that is generated when I try the key command and when I run the HP diagnostics. I have tried adding an HP or an H in front of the sn. Nothing works. That leads me to my next issue.

2) Without the serial number, I'm unable to determine specifically which version of the drivers that need to be installed. I know they need updating because a) they've never been updated b) HP's Hardware Diagnostic app states they are outdated. However, when I attempt to use that Diagnostic to do the update it doesn't do anything. It asks if I Agree to do the update, and I press I Agree. The next window pops up immediately and says Test Results: CANCELED

3) Somewhat related question:  When I try to use the HP Support for this computer, I am presented only with Windows 10 options. It wants me to pick with version of Windows 10 is installed:  1909 64-bit, 2004 64-bit or just plain 64-bit. Since mine is Windows 11, I cannot go any further in my attempt to update the drivers.

I have also tried updating the drivers through the Device Manager without success.

Hi @PMedical,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP All-in-One PC 24-f0000a Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

1. Serial Number Issues

If HP’s website isn’t accepting your serial number, here are a few things you can try:

  • Double-Check the Serial Number: Make sure there are no extra spaces or hidden characters. Verify it is exactly as it appears on the label.
  • May I have the exact name of the model of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

2. Updating Drivers Without Serial Number

If you can't update drivers using the HP Diagnostics app, try these steps:

  • Manual Driver Search: Visit the HP Drivers & Downloads page and search for your HP All-in-One model. Since you’re having issues with the serial number, try searching by model name instead of serial number. You might also try different variations of the model name (e.g., 24-f0000a vs. 24-f0xx).
  • Windows Update: Ensure your system is fully updated through Windows Update, which might include necessary drivers.
  • Device Manager: Right-click on the devices under Device Manager, select "Update Driver," and choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."

3. Support for Windows 11

Since HP’s support options only show Windows 10, try these:

  • Use Generic Drivers: For Windows 11, you might need to use drivers that are compatible with Windows 10 or look for updates that are compatible with Windows 11.
  • Windows Compatibility Mode: Download the drivers for Windows 10 and try installing them in compatibility mode. Right-click on the driver installer, go to Properties > Compatibility tab, and select Windows 10.
  • Windows 11 Support: Ensure that your Windows 11 is fully updated. Sometimes new driver support comes through Windows Updates.

Refer to this document:  HP All-in-One PC 24-f0000a User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
