HP Pavilion p7-1300 Desktop PC series
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My HP P7 is almost 5 year old.  The past few months it has been runing quite slow. Occasionally it will be OK after just turning it on but hte slows down. I had the hard disk defragmented, cleaned with air the fan blades and inside, deleted downloaded files, ran malware and got help from my sireless router support team.  Still a big problem.

Start the Windows Task Manager.

Switch to the "Performance" tab.

What percentage of each resource (CPU, RAM, disk-drive, network) is being used?

When you power-on the computer, launch the HP Hardware Diagnostics, and run the tests for the disk-drive.

It's possible that the disk-drive is failing, and taking much much much longer to perform each I/O request.
