I ran a hard drive smart test and it failed error code 303, also keep getting message:
windows detected hard drive disk problem ST31000524AS volume c:\d:\ failing sata0 attribute #05
Can anyone tell me what to do I have an external backyup drive on the computer should I dicconnect because of errors

Those messages indicate the hard drive is failing or has already failed. With the statement " I have an external backyup drive on the computer ", I hope that means it contains the data that you hold most dear. Disconnect the external drive, replace the hard drive, reinstall the Windows OS (probably using the Recovery Media you have made) and then restore the data from the backup drive.
Then all should be well. Report back with news on how this goes.

Thanks for that information
I just got a new hard drive and installed it It keeps saying no boot disk has been detected. Is there something wrong with new hard drive or am I missing something else. Thank you

The no boot disk message would be normal if you have not run the Recovery disk set or the windows 7 install disk. You said in the first post you have an external backup drive. I hope that seems there is a backup of the old hard drive. If you have a restore disk that is part of the backup software that was used, then use that to restore the information to the new drive. If the restore program cannot deal with a blank drive, then run the Recovery disk set from the Windows 7 Recovery partition, if you made them. If not, then order the restore disk set from Computer Surgeons

You need the complete model number to find what is needed. Or use a retail Windows 7 install disk for the version that was installed and use the COA product key from the sticker on the case of the PC to activate.

I would first like to say Thank You so much for your time as a volunteer. I did as you explained and the computer is up and running well. I diidn't think I coiuld do this repair but with your help I succeeded. Thanks again
