@Mariangello, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error Code 43 usually indicates a driver issue, hardware failure, or conflict with Windows updates. Since you're facing this issue with NVIDIA drivers after version 511.x, here are some troubleshooting steps:
Perform a Clean Installation of NVIDIA Drivers
1. Uninstall Current Drivers:
>Download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU): https://www.wagnardsoft.com/DDU
>Boot into Safe Mode (Press Shift + Restart → Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Restart → Press 4 for Safe Mode).
>Run DDU and select Clean and Restart.
2. Install an Older Stable Driver:
>Download NVIDIA Driver 472.12 (last stable version for your GTX 1080 before 511.x) from the official NVIDIA website.
>Install it using Custom Installation and check Perform a Clean Installation.
>Restart your PC.
Disable Windows Automatic Driver Updates
>Windows may automatically install faulty drivers. To prevent this:
>Open Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).
>Navigate to:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update
>Enable "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates."
>Restart the PC.
Check for BIOS & Chipset Updates
Update your BIOS and Intel Chipset Drivers from HP official support website for OMEN 870-287nc.
Manually Install NVIDIA Control Panel
>Uninstall NVIDIA Control Panel and try reinstalling it from:
>Microsoft Store: NVIDIA Control Panel
>NVIDIA GeForce Experience (if using it)
>Extract the NVCPL Setup file from your driver installation folder:
>Navigate to C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Control Panel Client
>Run nvcplui.exe manually
Test Hardware for Possible GPU Issues
>Open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc).
>Under Display Adapters, right-click GTX 1080 → Disable and Enable it.
>Check for any physical damage on the GPU, reseat it in the PCIe slot.
>Try testing your GPU on another PC (if possible).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
