HP Pavilion 27-n010a
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello everyone. I am having trouble resetting my HP (HP Pavilion 27-n010a)

I've tried multipul times resetting via - Recovery - Reset this PC - & - Advanced startup -.

Every time it tries to reset I recieve an error.

I have also tried unplugging my PC and holding down the power button.. still nothing.

I just want to reset this PC now 😞

Any suggestions?
cheers.

Hi

Try  removing any battery, then with it powered on, hold down the PWR button for at least 30 seconds.

Any particular kind of problem?

What is the exact wording of the error-message?

Have you run the HP Hardware Diagnostics, which can be launched immediately after powering-on your computer?

Did it "fail" any of the tests?

After I try to reset my pc it says "An error has occured" then returns me to windows 10, without resetting my computer.

I have this problem where I cannot open/run/execute any programs using "administrator mode". Even though I tried using different accounts, I've made sure I have full control. This error is: "Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\EXAMPLE'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

On another note, i've tryed removing all power and holding down the on button for 10sec-2mins. And it still won't hard reset..

Thanks for your reply.

You may have a hardware problem that causes the error-message.

When you power-on your computer, launch the HP Hardware Diagnostics, to test the RAM and the disk-drive.

If it reports a "fail", you have your answer.

That is the correct procedure for a "hard reset" of the hardware, specifically draining any residual electrical power.

But, I think that you want a software reset.  Correct?

The following comments presume that your computer was originally running Windows 8.1  ...

Your computer: HP Pavilion 27-n010a TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC Product Specifications

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04741487

Product Number - M1P87AA
Release Date - 7-Jul-2015
Country/region Sold In - Australia/New Zealand

I presume that it was shipped with Windows 8.1, and that you want to restore your computer to that "preloaded-at-the-factory" level.

Your first step: backup all your personal files, E-mail, pictures, videos, music, et cetera to an external disk-drive.

I looked at:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-27-n000-all-in-one-desktop-pc-series-to...

but HP does not offer a copy of the original operating system for purchase.

I also looked at: https://www.restoredisks.com/hp/all-in-one?cat=1905

but this web-site does not offer a copy of thet original operating system for purchase.

I also looked at: www.ComputerSurgeons.com

but this web-site does not offer a copy of the original operating system for purchase.

But, there are three more options:

1. was your computer shipped with a "System Recovery Kit" -- either one USB memory-stick, or a few DVDs, that contain Windows ?  If so, use it, to reload Windows.

2. is there a utility program that HP loaded onto your computer to create your own "System Recovery Kit"?

If so, run it, and then boot from the media, to reload Windows.

3. There may be a "hidden" partition on your disk-drive, that contains the "System Recovery Kit".

If so, when you power-on your computer, there should be an option to boot from that partition, that will reload the original operating system.

Hi

To supplement the above...

SELECT SECURE/LEGACY BOOT AS REQUIRED, & CHANGE THE BOOT SEQUENCE ALSO AS NEEDED.

At worst you should get a command prompt and be able to use XCOPY, otherwise just follow the text.
