Slimline 260-p026
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I need to boot my new 260-p026 from a DVD disk so I can try to recover data backed up from my defunct former PC. When the PC boots up, I don't see any messages from the BIOS advising me how I can access BIOS settings (I'm assuming here that I simply need to change the boot order ... right?)

Please advise as to how to do this.

Hi:

You need to go into the BIOS and enable legacy mode and disable secure boot in order to boot from a DVD.

This is a new procedure starting with all PC's that come with W8 or newer.

Please see this guide for where to access these settings.

Instead of changing the boot order, I prefer to tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the list of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu, and then select the DVD drive from the list.
