Can't find any way to ask a question from HP web support, regarding how to change my phone number in My Account (HP Store account, not this forum), so here's hoping someone can point me in the right direction.  Even in this forum there seems to be no category for Administrative or Profile support.

Can anyone help?

When I click on your "handle" on this forum, I see:

but I don't have access to see anything under your "User's Profile".  Do you see anything?

Thanks for this, but the problem is in my HP Account, NOT with my Forum profile.

To expand on this, when I'm in my HP Account page, I see two tabs: Profile and Security.  My phone number is listed on the Security tab, but needs to be updated.  There is no CHANGE button, and when I modify my old phone number with my new one, all I get is the message "Phone number is not valid".  The 'Apply Changes' button remains greyed out.

Wow! Not a single usable answer?  This an HP.com forum, so are there no HP staffers that can resolve this?

I've tried to go through the Contact Us route, the FAQ route, but absolutely everything with HP is automated and rigidly categorized and totally focused on Products.  Not a single communication route is available for a customer profile related question. 

At one time I talked to a real person (wow), who passed me on to another real, person (double wow), who planned to pass me on to a third real person, but instead I got the automated "pick your product" welcome - the usual dead end.

Come on folks, someone must know the answer. 

This can't be rocket science . . .

Are you entering exactly 10 digits, or are you adding "dashes", e.g., "416-555-1212" ?

Unfortunately, we don't always have the answer that people want to hear.

We are not the HP Store - we are a user forum located in the HP website.

 

We have one other option to offer:

 

HP Account - Login / Dashboard

Note:  Log into your HP Account if / when you need central access to your device information, including the ability to update your personal  information.

Section:  How do I edit my HP sign-in profile information or change my password?

 

Assuming you can change the data -

Will this update your information at the Store?

Maybe.

Depends..

For example,

  • Changes you make to your profile might not impact the data entered in a recent purchase request, for example.
  • If you signed in as a "Guest" to the store and hand entered information, it is doubtful editing your profile will have any impact.

Yes, I enter ten digits, 4165551212, and it automatically formats the number to (416) 555-1212 and tells me it's an invalid number.

We HP love to be a customer-friendly relationship and while adding Phone contact is not mandatory if adding a contact number make sure to select the country numbers spits automatically.

 

Hences the steps provided is correct
