HP Pavilion All-in-One - 24-xa0024
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

All of a sudden my computer can't detect the camera. I was told that there is no camera driver in my computer. I used to be able to record videos. I do many online meetings and now no one can see me or hear me. Please help!

Hi @Cgaytan,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how disruptive this is, especially when you rely on your HP Pavilion All-in-One for video calls and recordings. The fact that your camera suddenly disappeared and there’s no driver installed usually means one of these issues:

Why This Happens

  • Windows update or rollback removed the camera driver.
  • The camera is disabled in Device Manager or BIOS.
  • HP Privacy Switch (physical or software) is turned on.
  • Corrupted system files after the update.

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Check the Camera in Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X → Device Manager.
  • Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices.
  • If the camera is missing:
    • Click Action → Scan for hardware changes.
    • If still missing, go to step 2.

2. Install HP Camera Driver

  • Download the latest driver for your HP Pavilion 24-xa0024: 👉 support.hp.com/us-en
  • Look for Realtek or HP IR Camera Driver under “Driver, Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices”.

3. Check Privacy Settings

  • Go to Settings → Privacy → Camera.
  • Ensure Allow apps to access your camera is ON.

4. Check HP Privacy Switch

  • Some HP All-in-Ones have a physical slider near the camera or a software toggle in HP Command Center.
  • Make sure it’s set to ON.

5. BIOS Settings

  • Restart PC → Press Esc → F10 for BIOS.
  • Under Security → Device Security, ensure the Integrated Camera is enabled.

6. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics :👉 HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

Test the camera to confirm hardware functionality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
