Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

That's because the default app for opening media files in Win10 is probably Windows Media Player -- and that lacks MANY of the codecs needed for current video file formats.

A much-better solution is to use VLC Media Player:  https://www.videolan.org/index.html
