Envy 700-230
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi all

I have a HP Envy 700-230 that has a wireless keyboard

How am I supposed to access the BIOS as the Keyboard drivers are not loaded until after the machine has booted and there are no normal keyboard connects on this PC for a wired keyboard

With this sort of computor how am supposed to access the BIOS

Obviously at boot the reports a keyboard error and suggests I press escape to access the BIOS which I cannot because at boot there is no keyboard present.

Thanks for any help with this.

Jeanette

While not a definite answer but try a wired USB keyboard in place of the wireless one.  There may be a setting in the BIOS to change the way the keyboard interacts on boot but, of course, you have to get into the BIOS.  Looking at other comments on this problem, if you happen to have a PS/2 keyboard and a PS/2 to USB adapter, then this seems to be a better choice.  Plug the PS/2 keyboard into the PS/2 to USB adapter and then try that on boot to enter the BIOS.  Then look for the setting to allow the keyboard to be recognised at boot.  Another choice is to move the USB port the wireless keyboard uses.  If the back ports, move to the front, if the front move to the back.

Let me know if any of those help.

Is this keyboard the one that came with the PC or one that was installed later?

Hi. Why can't you use a wireless keyboard and mouse? It sounds like I have the same problem, but I went out and bought another wireless combo mouse/keyboard set after I started having issues with the hp provided keyboard and mouse. When I plug in the dongle, it tells me that there was an error on the new and old keyboard/mouse. Also, when I boot my computer up, it tells me keyboard error and latest BIOS upgrade. I want to use the original wireless keyboard and mouse because I'm sure they still work and that it's just an issue with the driver. I have updated to the most up-to-date BIOS after finding my keyboard and mouse still didn't work with the 2 other updates for BIOS. Is there another way I can update software so the mouse and keyboard works? Or will I be forced to operate my computer with primitive keyboards and mouses? I do have a touchscreen monitor for my desktop that works, but cannot operate adobe photoshop cs6 with a touchscreen monitor.
