How to disable resolution notice produced by Phoenix bios 5.17

I have an HP a6113w desktop. HP no longer supports this unit because of its age.  It uses Phoenix technologies bios 5.17 dated 4/20/2007. In the center of my screen is a box with the words

"Resolution notice

for best picture quality

change resolution to

1920X1080.

1:clear message

2: disable message

Usually when this appears it is because a game has forced the resolution to a lower resolution. Sometimes it appears for no apparent reason. Unfortunately, pressing 1 to clear the message and pressing 2 to disable the message does nothing. The message box is ABOVE the current screen and the mouse cannot access it, nor can the keyboard. I am assuming that it is generated by the Phoenix bios. I can find no option to disable the message or process anywhere in the setup/bootup  screens. Usually in the past the box would naturally disappear after a couple of minutes. Last night the box appeared and today it is STILL THERE hogging the middle of my screen. It has been up for 15 hours with no end in sight. HELP?

I don't believe that you have a BIOS issue.

I recently worked on a very similar problem where an almost exact message was being displayed every time after a boot up.  The issue turned out to be that a digital monitor was using a VGA cable connected to a VGA port on the PC's video card. Once the VGA cable was replaced with a HDMI cable and it was connected to the HDMI port on the PC's video card the message disappeared.

If the monitor is digital (appears to be so by the message) then use a matching digital connection to the PC's graphics card. Use a native digital cable that will match up with the video connectors on both the monitor and the PC.

You might also want to check the monitor's video input settings in the monitor's menu. Make sure that the settings are equal to the video connection type.

The monitor I have is a viewsonic. This is a replacement monitor that I added after the original finally died. The viewsonic has been a great monitor. Neither the desktop or the viewsonic monitor have HDMI ports. So I can't change to an HDMI cable. They both use the kind of port with the two aluminum screws on either side to tighten it down. I am at a loss how to fix this. It may be that it has just become time to punt and buy a new system and monitor entirely.  What do you think?

Well, surprise, surprise. I noticed a small button on the side of the monitor just behind the face. one was labled 1 and one was labeled 2. I have been trying to disable the message using my keyboard to hit 1 or 2 or using the F keys. I hit the number two on the side of the monitor and the message disappeared. Hopefully, it disabled the message from being generated, as it claimed pushing two would fix. Looks like I can struggle on a while longer with this system. Thanks again for your help.

Surprise, surprise you have solved your own problem.:smileysurprised:  I don't use Viewsonic monitors so I don't need to push a button.

You might want to consider using a DVI cable (two screws) on the connector if the PC's video port supports DVI.
