Computer shut down and when I attempt a restart, I get a blue field warning of a thermal shutdown.  I have blown compressed air into the case and let it set for about 30 minutes, but I am still getting the same warning.

Hi @Trenton-Tom

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Please provide a specific HP Product Number.

You probably have a failing: CPU fan or chassis fan. Or you could have a flaky MB thermal sensor.

Remove the Desktop side panel, do you have a Desktop? Start the PC. Check the fans.

You could have an AIO liquid cooled system, maybe the pump mounted to the CPU has failed. Or the AIO has lost coolant via evaporation or permeation.

Maybe you need to reapply thermal paste to the CPU. Maybe the discrete graphics card is overheating.

Regards
