Hello everyone,

My HDD has completely corrupted so had to install a new SSD. The CDs in which i had made the recovery of the genuine Windows 8 that was preinstalled in my PC are also not working. There is no activation code on the sticker of the Windows logo on my CPU, it had just the symbol of Windows. Can i get my windows activation key form the HP serial no and product no?

Thanks and Regards!

Hello
you don't need this number
since windows 8, the activation key is registered in the bios
You must therefore be able to use a microsoft media, installation
But if windows works you can easily recover this key

Hi,

Thank you very much for the response. The problem is that while installing the new SSD the store guy installed a pirated Win 10 because my Win 8 recovery drives were not working so I think the BIOS does have the information about Win 8 anymore. Is there anyway to get the original Win 8 license key again?

Thanks & Regards!

Normally the key cannot be erased like this
If you have had a pirate version installed, and I doubt it, your best bet is to go back to the store.
In general it is also possible to install official windows 10, a priori no reason to install a pirate version
