How to recover data from MediaSmart EX490 with Windows 10 client

Hi,

I hope I'm posting in the right forum.

I'm about to sell my retired MediaSmart EX490 media server but just discovered that I need a copy of 3000 photos before it goes out of the door. I cannot find client software for Windows 10 and don't know how to access the files on the EX 490.

I suppose my backup solution is to find a PC running Win XP somewhere and borrow it to complete this task.

Any other ideas?

Accepting that I know nothing about nothing...

Can you create a DVD/USB with Lubuntu or W10 on?

Then boot from that media?

If you have data you wish to try and save using the XCOPY command.
Then create your own Repair/Recovery/Rebuild/Re-install media or buy a set from HP.

C:\>XCOPY C:\Users\* S:\ /e /i /h (then files like those 3 listed below get copied over)
