What happens when you try?

Are you booting from the CD that contains Windows XP?

What error-message(s) do you get?

I Was not able to boot from USB as the USB was not detected in the boot menu. So now I am booting from a CD which has windows xp sp3. The problem is it shows "loading disk" message but get stuck at the "windows setup" page forever.

Given the "vintage" status of your hardware, that is not surprising -- the capability of booting from USB was not a feature on "ancient" motherboards.

Do you have an "empty" disk-drive that is a "spare" ? Maybe, try installing to it, instead of to your "ancient" disk-drive.
