HP Pavillion m8120n
Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)

hp m8120n Desk top. Was having trouble booting to the homepage. After working on it for weeks, thought I would do System Recovery. Now when I turn the computer on, it goes straight to this page. I cannot exit this program at all. Eventually after it loads files, it reads error #0x4001001300001002

This is the only thing it boots straight to, I ran the diagnotics check everything passed.  I don't have a clue on how to deal with this.  I am not computer savy at all, I am at a complete loss.

@Ozzieman

Sorry, but I don't have very good news for you ...

Your PC is a Vista-era model, and if it has still the original hard drive, then most likely, the problems you are encountering are due to drive failure -- which is to be expected in a PC that old.

To check the drive you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu -- that will look similar to the image below ...
HP Startup Menu.jpg
3) press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.

Please report back the test results.

The really BAD news is that recovery media for Vista is not available anymore and has not been for YEARS now. So, even if you do replace the drive, there is no way of putting Vista back on it.

Sorry, but it's time to move to a newer PC.

If I bought a new Hard Drive, would that solve my issues?

Sorry I sent you a PM, but I was still needing your help, with the question I posted yesterday.
