I have a hp and it doesn't like a new hard drive and when I wanted a fresh copy of Windows I had to convert it to MBR from GPT But it deleted the recovery partition. Is there some kind of hdd password key because I tried my hdd from my hp elitebook G1 and it still said no OS found

Hi,

Not sure what's happening but if you disable UEFI in the BIOS the PC will not see the GPT storage disk from the EliteBook G1 and you cannot install the operating system using GPT.

GPT requires UEFI mode in the BIOS.
