Hi @aquirosguio,

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want the bios password for your computer.

You would have to Contact HP for a hardware service as the motherboard may require a tattoo/Bios Flash.

Any other way of unlocking the BIOS is not authorized by HP.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get the phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Hope that answers your question and you have a good day ahead.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.

Take care!

Cheers!

Hi, probably a bit late in replying after noticing the date of your post. I just replaced the hard drive in my touchsmart 520. After installing the drive and reassembling the pc.

Power on with 1st recovery disc installed in drive (use pin hole in drive bay door by inserting a paperclip in and drive will eject).   Meassage(s) will come up on screen as usually and also you may get the message that disc will be reset, formatted etc. What ever comes up its a simple yes or no. Recovery partition will be automatically created and the original software will be installed. Once this is complete you can then restore all or any files from your previous back up. After a week or two make another backup image disc including all folders etc. This will be the first fresh back up restore for your brand new hard drive.

Tip... Leave BIOS setup as is (others seem to want change it for one reason or another. (unless your a tech and good with understanding of MS-DOS etc leave well alone as non reversible.

Here is a great link for HP Diagnostic issues... https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/pc-diags.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/pps/pl...

All the above is at your risk. The format is exactly what i did on the day and it works for me. If you didnt fit drive properly, reassemble properly or not follow onscreen instructions it will not work.

good luck
