Thank you but that did not solve the problem.  Do you have any other suggestions?

Is this the windows password?

There's a few things that I know you can do.

1. Microsoft has a legit tool that you can download. It's called Microsoft Disgnostics and Recovery or DART for short. You'll download it as an Iso and extract it with 7-zip or some other extrating tool to a USB drive, then boot your computer from the USB device. I know from experience that this tool works for Windows 7 and Windows 10.

2. Try booting in safe mode and logging in as administrator. If it does have a password, it could be "password" without the quotes.

3. Download a tool called ntpwedit and put it on a usb drive. Put your usb drive in and boot to it. Depening on what kind of laptop you have, the boot menu is usually prompted by pressing F12. You can probably find a YouTube video on it. It's eaier to follow if you have a visual.

4. There's also a method that involves using the sticky keys. This method is more someone who knows their way around the command line. You'll need a boot CD for this option. The only thing you'll need it for is acessing the command prompt.  Search Google for "Unlocking Windows password by using stick keys"
