Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi I have a hp 19-2113w that came with Windows 8 that is about 6 years old but recently the HDD failed so I plan to purchase an SSD and install Windows 10 on it. Just wanted to double check if it was possible to install Windows 10 on this PC on a new SSD? or if it wouldn't allow it due to some backwards compatibility issues?

Hope someone can answer my question.

Thank you!

@BigGreenApple02,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Yes, it is entirely possible to install Windows 10 on your HP 19-2113w All-in-One Desktop PC (G4B06AA), as shown here by HP System 19-2113w Users: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-19-2113w/14360.

Btw, your desktop can be fitted with up to 2 x 4GB of DDR3 PC3-12800, 1600 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 204-pin RAM modules.

Based on User benchmark results, the following RAM modules managed to run at 1600 MHz:

Hynix HMT451S6AFR8A-PB 4GB
Hynix HMT351S6EFR8A-PB 4GB
Crucial CT51264BF160B.M16F 4GB
Micron 8KTF51264HZ-1G6J1 4GB
Micron 8KTF51264HZ-1G6E1 4GB

Hope this was helpful.

Hi:

There are W10 drivers for your PC, so it should be OK to do that.

HP 19-2113w All-in-One Desktop PC (ENERGY STAR) Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support

I have never performed a clean install of W10 not having previously upgraded a PC before I installed a new hard drive.

You should be able to activate the W10 installation with the W8.1 product key in your PC's BIOS.

Another thing you can do is to clean install W8.1 64 bit by making a bootable W8.1 installation flash drive and then do an in-place upgrade to W10 where it should activate without having to enter a product key.

Download the plain W8.1 64 Bit ISO file from the link below.

Download Windows 8.1 Disc Image (ISO File) (microsoft.com)

Use the free Rufus utility to transfer the ISO file to a USB flash drive so that it is bootable.

Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way

Set the Rufus menu up the way you see it in the website example.

After you install W8.1 and the drivers here is how you can do an in-place upgrade to W10:

Make a bootable W10 USB installation flash drive with the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

It will be easier to do this if you have a PC running W10 or W11 because on W7 or W8.1 you need to make some registry changes in order for the media creation tool to work.   See this link if you only have your PC to use.

Update to enable TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 as default secure protocols in WinHTTP in Windows - Microsoft S...

Have your PC running and at the Windows desktop.

After you create the bootable W10 installation flash drive, plug it into your PC's USB port.

Do not boot from the flash drive.

Open the flash drive in Windows Explorer.

You will see a list of files on the flash drive.

Double click to run the Setup application to begin the upgrade process to W10.

You have 10 days to go back to W8.1 in case things don't work as well on W10 for any reason.

Go back to Windows 8.1 - Microsoft Support
