Hi @DWalker63

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "System Memory is Critically Low" popup you're seeing on your computer is valid, but it could be due to either actual memory issues or something triggering the system to misinterpret your available memory. This message typically means that your computer's RAM (Random Access Memory) or virtual memory is running low, which can lead to performance problems like freezing, slowdowns, or crashes.

Here are the most common causes and solutions to fix this issue:

1. Check Available RAM Usage

  • Sometimes, a program or a process can use up all your available RAM, which can trigger this warning. You can check what is consuming memory using Task Manager.

Steps to check RAM usage:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Performance tab and select Memory. This will show you how much RAM is being used.
  • If it’s near 100%, check the Processes tab to see which programs are using the most memory. If you spot any programs or processes consuming an unusually high amount of memory, you can try to end the task to free up some RAM.

2. Close Unnecessary Programs

  • Close any programs you aren’t actively using. Sometimes multiple open programs (especially web browsers with many tabs) can eat up your available memory.
  • Consider disabling unnecessary startup programs that run when your computer boots up:
    • In Task Manager, go to the Startup tab and disable any non-essential programs.

3. Free Up Virtual Memory

  • If your physical RAM is running low, your computer uses virtual memory (a part of your hard drive) as an extension of RAM. If this space gets full or is not configured properly, it can cause performance issues.

I hope this helps.
