HP Model 27-a210 All-In-One Desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The problems that I am experiencing happen every time I log into my computer.

When I initially get to the desktop I notice that the Task Bar icons are missing. After about a minute they finally appear.

As long as I don't try using my Google Chrome browser everything works fine. If I go immediately to Google what appears is a white screen with nothing on it. Eventually, my links do appear but if I try using them, nothing happens.

The sidte that I selected does not appear as expected. However, if I don't use Google but instead use Edge or IE11 instead everything works fine. And the funny part is if I go back to use Google later....it works fine. As long as I don't shut down Windows. This does not happen on my other computers in the house so I know it's a problem with the HP.

One of the first things I tried was a "Performance Tuneup". It seemed to be working just fine until I got to 73% but then locked up. After waiting 45 minutes I shut it down. Total time on this process was 1.5H and no help. Have checked for viruses but no luck there. Have uninstalled and reinstalled Google twice. Tried a program call C cleaaner and it worked great but......after about a week it was back to its old behavior again. Since it works ok if I don't use it right away, it's like there's some it is missing that makes it not work if I try using it immediately. I even tried making Chrome my default browser. The didn't work either. I was almost ready to take it in to OfficeDepot until I read a post /bout some bad behavior by them inserting spyware on customer machines in 2017/18.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Yes its possible to be infected with malware...try to do a scan with Malwarebytes.

that can also be the reason for Icons that appear slow.

Also run this commands from an administrator command prompt:

1) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth   and after that

2) sfc /scannow

after these steps and if you have no malware, viruses...etc...you should be good!

Grizzlys2k,

I was  able to try out your suggestions and got the following results:

I downloaded Malwarebytes and the program came up with 23 potential problems which I ended up placing in quarentine status. Once this halppened I proceded to try out accessing Google Chrome but the taskbar items were still acting like before. Also when I tried using google to open sites it acted the same...locked up!

Next I rand the dism cleanup-image restore health with a message "The restore operation completed successfully".

Next I ran the sfc scannow with the following message when it completed: "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations".

So....everything is still 'not working normally' as before.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Well its good to know you dont have any problems with the operating system or malware...etc...

It is a bit strange that you have problems only with Google Chrome....did you tried to install the Chome version in 64 bit and in 32 bit and you have the same problems? Maybe you can tery un-installed it....and then re-install it again from the website...also check if you have browser extensions installed in Chrome...those usually cause hangs and lookups..

I dont know if that will fix it...but it worth a try.

Now if everything is all good...but lookups still happen...maybe you should try testing your hard drive to see if any bad sectors on it...I remember I had some programs installed on one hard drive..and untill I did a scandisk and marked those bad sectors on it...I also experienced lookups with the program...all others were working properly...

Grizzlys2k,

I've uninstalled Gooble Chrome and reinstalled it twice and still have the same problem. I'm pretty sure that I included this info on my original request.

I did check to see if I had any bad sectors and it came back negative...everything ok.

As I stated earlier, if I don't try using Chrome right away, like wait about 10 minutes or so it loads ok. So this is what i'm doing at the moment. I would like to correct it for good though. Maybe someone else might have an idea!

I would try to reinstall the operating system from scratch and see if the problem will still be there....You tried about almost everything

I had a feeling that would probably be the final suggestion.

I'm pretty sure that would lead me where a solution exists.

Thanks for your help.
