Microsoft Windows 11

I bought a brand-new HP Envy desktop today. Following the instructions on the computer to set it up I made a mistake and transferred the files from my laptop instead of my old desktop via cloud. I am unable to reset it because I don't have a windows 11 disk. Spoke with HP support and could not understand much of what he was saying. I think he said he could not help me but could transfer me to pay for help???

If anyone can help it would be appreciated, otherwise I will return this Envy.

Greetings @edoy

Welcome back to the Forum.

Why do you have to reset the PC if you transferred data files from your Laptop instead of transferring files from a different Desktop, which is also owned by you?

I don't see why you can't fix the problem by transferring the Desktop files to the new PC.

Copy the old Desktop files to an external USB drive. Then copy the files from the external USB drive to the new PC.

What am I missing? Please provide more information.

You can do a HP Cloud Recovery if you can't run Windows on the new PC.

I do not want the laptop files on the new desktop, they serve two different purposes. I know I can physically delete files I don't want but hoping for an easier solution.

I can't think of any other way to remove the unwanted files from the new Desktop PC in your situation.

Either delete the files or do a HP Cloud Recovery.

I do periodic system images using disk imaging software. So reimaging the drive back to the way it was prior to moving the Laptop files to the new PC would be a third option in my situation.
