HP Pavilion x360 - 13-u163nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had this issue since I got the computer but it just seems to get worse, or I am getting sicker and sicker of dealing with it. When the computer boots up, it runs super slow. I let everything load and try to do anything, it just does not go. I then run the ashampoo optimizer program (randomly tried it and it worked) The computer will come alive and start running like a champ. I go from not being able to load a website to photo editing in Photoshop with 36mp RAW images with no sweat. Thing is, if I restart the computer or shut it down and turn it back on, it takes about an hour of waiting for everything to load and run the optimizer again. I did a full re-install of Windows 10, deleting everything that was on the computer. I loaded back just my Adobe Creative Suite, Ashampoo, and World of Warcraft. The computer ran fine after the install before installing other software. I did a reset and it was back to being a slug. I installed the ashampoo optimizer and registry cleaner, and it was running great again. This time I didn't shut it off completely, just left it in sleep mode and it was fine. Photoshop, WOW, everything was running smooth. Then my wife accidently unplugged the power cord and the battery died while I wasn't here. I started up the computer and slug city was back. Is there a known issue or something to look at to make this not happen. I have been dealing with this issue for years and I guess what got me was I took a computer from my Dad's house when he passed away  in January, and even without the added RAM his computer is flying. I havent been using my HP because its so frustrating. I know I could just use the other computer but I want to fix this. Any suggestions? It did it without WOW or Adobe loaded, so I don't think it is those software packages. I dont know if the x360 13-u163nr had something loaded in the recovery software that causes this issue. Can I delete a program and get this thing running like it should? Help me Obi-wan....

Bring up the event viewer and look for timeouts and disk errors in both system and application.  I assume you've removed bloatware including McAfee and possibly upgrade the memory already.  You might consider replacing the 5400 RPM drive with a solid state such as WD blue;

there was a BIOS update in December 2020 are you running that version?

have you run the bios diagnostic to look for errors or the HP assistant ?

@benglish33 -- in addition to the excellent advice by @BeemerBiker -- note that a "reset" will cause your computer to run Windows Update, to select, download, and install all the security-updates since the dates that Windows was factory-loaded onto your computer.  This activity can monopolize your computer's resources, especially on the (slow) 5400 RPM disk-drive.

After a reset, when the computer restarts, disconnect the Ethernet cable, so that it cannot "call home" to run Windows Update. Slug? Full speed?

Then, install Photoshop, and restart.  Slug? Full speed?

Install the Adobe suite, and restart. Slug? Full speed?
