Microsoft Windows 11

I bought my pc ( HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-1815no ) around 5 years ago. I have been very happy with my purchase up until recently, when I found out that my motherboard is a custom one, making it basically impossible for me to change my case without changing my motherboard. I've reached out to support in this matter but was told to find an answer myself.

My question really is this: since I would like to change my case, I therefore need to change my motherboard. Would there be any complications in doing so? As in, would I not be able to do so considering both my PSU and GPU are HP custom-made?

I know that I have to make sure that the new motherboard is compatible with both my GPU and CPU.

Here is a link to what HP says is my PC stats are : https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06876048

If you can recommend any motherboards I will be forever grateful! Thank you for your time.

Your memory, CPU and GPU SHOULD transfer to motherboard that is socket 1200.  You would have to verify the CPU by looking up the CPU compatibility.

I advise against it for this reason: Your  i5-10400F supports only 2 memory channels and 16 express lanes.  if the motherboard has slots for 4 or 8 memory sticks they would only work in dual channel mode, not 4 channel.  In addition, the 16 express lanes mean that if you put in an x16 GPU and another adapter of any type, the CPU would only use 8 of the 16 lanes instead of all 16.

You might consider investing in a dremel with a metal cutting blade and do your own case mod using glass side panel and adapting the top for a magnetic air filter.  A video of the tg01 shows there is room for fans in the top.  I have done this on several systems and the motherboard needs to be removed before any cutting or drilling and the case vacuumed to get rid of metal dust.

Google for custom case mod sites.
