> IRQ and ROM tests failed on my laptop.
Other people in this forum have reported that this is a "false negative" -- nothing is wrong with the hardware; it's the test itself that is faulty.

Probably, it's either an out-of-balance fan, not spinning smoothly, or a failing disk-drive.
Rerun the HP Hardware Diagnostics, choosing to run only the tests against the disk-drive.
If the test "fails", then you need to replace the disk-drive, before its residual "life" ends.
There are three methods:
- If Windows is still running, there is a program to create a "System Recovery Set", which either writes to one USB memory-stick, or burns a few DVD-recordable disks. Then, backup all your personal files to an external disk-drive (or a different USB memory-stick). Remove the current disk-drive. Purchase and connect the new disk-drive. Boot from that System Recovery Set, to reinstall Windows.
- If Windows is still running, purchase a new disk-drive from SEAGATE, and download the free SEATOOLS from www.seagate.com -- this software can do "disk-cloning", to copy, block-by-block, everything from the current disk-drive to the new disk-drive. [Or, purchase a new disk-drive from WESTERN DIGITAL, and download the free WD Acronis "disk-cloning" software.] After the cloning, remove the old disk-drive, install and connect the new disk-drive, and boot. All your programs and all your personal files will be present.
- If Windows is not running, remove the current disk-drive, purchase and connect a new disk-drive, and reinstall Windows. Then, temporarily connect the old disk-drive as a "secondary" disk-drive, and try to copy your personal files from "old" to "new'.
More details are available, if you ask for them.
