As my warranty has expired, I'd like to know the best (and cheapest) fix for this problem.
I got this error message: [serial number removed]
Failure details:
The test found a communication problem between the network port and the system board. The card may need to be replaced or the system board may need to be repaired.

Welcome to HP Support Community,
Our diagnosis confirms a hardware malfunction, In this scenario, I would suggest if you're comfortable in replacing the part yourself or locally, this can be done either using the HP Part store, Or call the HP Support team to have the PC serviced.
You could purchase the part from HP, use the HP Parts surfer to identify the part: http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx
And order it via the HP Parts store: https://parts.hp.com/hpparts/CountryChoice.aspx?mscssid=&ccode=ZZ&lcode=ZZ
HP support team can be reached on www.hp.com/contacthp
Select the product type.
Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
Select the country from the drop-down.
You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
Cheers!
