Computer power button starts blinking when computer goes into sleep mode & does not stop.

This is the 'default' setting for HP products and a lot of other OEM units I'm afraid. It's the PC's way of telling you that although it looks off it's actually still powered up and ready to serve. The only way to stop it flashing is to properly power down the PC, or stick a piece of masking tape over the LED.
