Hi there,
I'm trying to install Windows 7 Enterprise x64 onto an EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF that has a mix of USB 3 and USB 2 ports but the USB mouse and keyboard become unresponsive once the Win7 splash screen appears to choose the installation language. Up until then the mouse and keyboard function.
I've read various threads and KBs that all suggest to update the USB 3 drivers in the boot.wim and install.wim which I've done using DISM and confirmed they've applied but no change. I've also updated the USB controller driver in the wim images to the latest Intel ones and no change.
I've had problems setting the boot order in the Legacy boot options (I don't want to use UEFI) to set the USB boot option but the UEFI boot option does allow the USB boot option to be set and does pick up my SanDisk USB key to boot from. All the Legacy boot option does is allow USB to be set in the ordering but doesn't pick up the SanDisk USB.
I've tried to disable legacy, save the options then go back into the BIOS settings to enable legacy (disable Secure Boot), saved again then gone back in but no matter what I do the Legacy boot isn't picking up my USB device.
One thread I found in HP forums suggested downloading the HP custom Windows 7 installation for these desktops but I can't find that to download.
Has anyone else had these problem trying to install Windows 7 on one of these desktops?
All help greatly received.
Thanks.

Hi:
Here is the link to the custom W7 installation file for your model.
I believe that this is only going to be good for W7 Pro.
This package provides the Cloud Recovery Client for supported models running a supported operating system. This Client Utility enables users to download the Recovery Kit from the cloud.

I have attached the instructions for use below...
