Hi, over the past 6 months or so I've been receiving notices every few weeks from my security program (whose name I wish to remain anonymous) to add an Optimizer at an additional charge. I've been reading info online which says never to do this. My HP desktop computer is working perfectly and the speed is so fast I can barely keep up 😉 Could someone please give me some feedback about this and thanks.

Greetings @Willow1949
My pleasure.
I didn't realize McAfee A-V at $149.00 per year was so expensive. There are other viable alternatives at a fraction of the cost.
The HP Support Assistant optimizer is good to do. Using the Windows Security second opinion scan is also good.
I agree with you in choosing not to install the McAfee Optimizer.

Greetings @Willow1949
I've used many different A-V/security programs over decades of computing.
Can't recall seeing ads from any of the security software developers asking me to buy an optimizer.
I can't say if the optimizer upgrade is legit without knowing what A-V software you are using.
HP normally includes a trial version of McAfee A-V, having a subscription option, with most consumer PCs.

Thanks so much for your reply, Bill. My anti-virus program is with McAfee and I've had it for several years. I pay $149.00 a year and they're asking for $34.99 to add the optimizer which is a sale price, the regular price being $69.99.
Of course I have Windows Defender and all is AOK there. Occasionally I run the HP Support Optimizer, is this alright to do? Anytime I run the HP Support Optimizer, all is OK with it too.
Also, I read online yesterday on several sites NOT to add any additional optimizers as people incurred a lot of problems by doing so. I'm thinking I best leave all as it is seeing my HP desktop computer is working perfectly and fast too. What do you think, Bill, and thanks ever so much again.

Thanks a million, Bill, for your second reply. I thought $149.00 per year for a McAfee anti-virus subscription was pricy too and if I'd added their optimizer, it would cost me nearly $220.00 per year upon my renewal next August.
And thanks very much for letting me know the HP Support Assistant optimizer is good to do and also using the Windows Security second option.
I'm heeding your suggestion not to add the McAfee Optimizer. My feeling is that if it ain't broken, don't fix it 😉 Smooth sailing Tuesday wishes, Bill 😊
