HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop 860-019, product number N0A72AA#ABL
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have insufficient space on drive C: to install windows updates. I have been through the windows cleanup process several times, but it does not free up enough space. I am open for ideas, but suspect based on the age of the HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop 860-019, product number  N0A72AA#ABL there are a number of obsolete directories/files that could be removed as they are no longer required. I need help in identifying what could be deleted without adversely impacting the system.

Drive C: is 117.94GB with 2.3GB free

The computer was configured with C: as a  117 GB drive and 😧 as a data drive with 1.5TB

Volume in drive C is Windows

 Volume Serial Number is 5C3D-6B65

 Directory of c:\

Here are some things you can do to recover some of the disk space:

Also, the community Win10 Forums has the following suggestions:

Finally, there is a freeware app known as Wise Disk Cleaner. I use it every day to get rid of junk files: https://www.wisecleaner.com/wise-disk-cleaner.html

My guess is that the "C:" drive-letter is a 120 GB SSD (Solid State Disk).

The entire "swsetup" ("software setup") folder can be moved to the "D:" drive-letter.

The files in that folder were only used when HP installed HP-specific device-drivers.

Windows 10 has the "Disk Cleanup" app, that can remove files/folders. Try it.

Also, open your web-browser, and delete all the "Temporary Internet Files".

Can you move files from your "My Documents" folder onto the "D:" drive-letter?

Can you open your "Downloads" folder, and sort-by-file-size, and look at the largest files?

You could have downloaded the same file more than once.

You could have downloaded a program more than once. Delete the extra copies.

If you have a file like "iTunes Installer", just delete it -- you can always download the newest version from Apple's web-site.

Also, look at the contents of your "Recycle Bin" folder. Can you delete some of those files?

Do you have any large programs in your C drive? you can try to move them with Windows Settings(Apps & Features), if the move button is grayed out, try third-party software with App move features.  You can move them to another driver with big space. If you have another disk that can place those programs, that would be better.

You can also check your Downloads folder, if it takes up much space, you can move it to a new place.
