Hi @Mason-57,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Sorry for the inconvenience caused and don’t worry let me help you.

Thank you for sharing such detailed logs, I completely understand your concern, and I’ll do my best to help you narrow this down.

From the event logs you’ve provided, the key points are:

  • The MEIx64 driver is failing to start (Problem Code 0x34).
  • The status 0xC0000428 often indicates a driver signature or compatibility issue.
  • The failure between the driver and firmware suggests a mismatch between the installed driver and the firmware embedded in the system’s chipset.

To move forward, I’d like to ask a few clarifying questions:

  • Which exact HP model are you using  ?
  • Did this issue start after a BIOS update, Windows update, or driver installation?
  • Are you running Windows 10 or Windows 11, and which build version?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try while we gather more details:

  1. Clean Driver Reinstall
    • Open Device Manager, locate Intel(R) Management Engine Interface.
    • Right-click → Uninstall device (check “Delete the driver software for this device” if available).
    • Restart your PC, then reinstall the latest MEI driver from HP’s support page for your exact model.
  2. Check Windows Updates
    • Sometimes Windows Update pushes a generic MEI driver that conflicts with OEM versions.
    • Ensure all pending updates are installed, then recheck Device Manager.
  3. BIOS Settings Reset
    • Enter BIOS Setup during boot.
    • Load Default/Optimized Settings and save.
    • This can help if the Management Engine firmware settings became misaligned.
  4. System Firmware Update
    • Even if you’ve updated BIOS, check HP’s support website for Intel Management Engine Firmware updates (these are sometimes separate from BIOS).
  5. Event Viewer Monitoring
  • After reinstalling, monitor Event Viewer again to see if the error persists or changes.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Deep_World

This ONLY occurs when the system has been a sleep, as I very rely power down, it's fine whewn doing either a reboot, or cold restart

Hers the answers to the questions you asked

I'm using the HP Z4 G4 Workstation exact details as follows

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9920X CPU @ 3.50GHz (3.50 GHz)
Installed RAM 128 GB (128 GB usable)
Device ID 82C030FA-D392-4082-88C3-13CDE36CE7B9
Product ID 00330-52268-94798-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
As far as I'm aware this DID NOT star after I updated the BIOS it something recent

I am running the lates drivers on ALL the hardware, including this,

I'm running

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 25H2
Installed on ‎06/‎02/‎2026
OS build 26200.7922
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.300.0

I have carried out the delete, reboot, reinstall several times, and delete, find hardware changes, as well BOTH reinstall the driver that works OK

I have already installed the newest/lates driver from the INTEL website

I have used the installer that comes with the download to remove the pervious versions, by using the delete/remove this driver option the ran it again to reinstall the driver

As I say it only errors when the machine goes to sleep then wakes up, I have removed the "Allow  the computer to put this devise to sleep" but that dose not seem to have any effect
